(670 The Score) Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman is expected to miss at least four weeks with a left groin strain, manager Craig Counsell said on the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Tuesday afternoon.

Tauchman exited in the third inning of the Cubs’ eventual 7-6 loss to the Giants on Monday due to groin tightness. He’ll be placed on the 10-day injured list later Tuesday.

“We’re looking at probably around four weeks to heal,” Counsell said. “We’ll obviously listen to the patient and see how he progresses, but he’s going to have a bit of healing time here.”

Tauchman’s injury is a big blow for the Cubs, as his .360 on-base percentage is the best on the team for any player with at least 25 at-bats this season. Tauchman is hitting .259 with five homers, 19 RBIs and a .741 OPS in 66 games.

Infielder Miles Mastrobuoni has rejoined the Cubs as the roster replacement for Tauchman. Mastrobuoni has struggled at the plate this season, hitting .125 with a .372 OPS in 19 games.
