(670 The Score) Bears nose tackle Andrew Billings' impact often isn’t clear in the box score. That’s how it works for those at his position.

Billings’ job is often to take on double teams and open up opportunities for his teammates. It’s why the Bears know well how valuable he is to their defensive identity.

On the Bernstein & Holmes Show on Tuesday, Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards explained why Billings is such an important player for their defense.

“He’s always been dominant,” Edwards said. “I think people are just starting to recognize it a little bit more seeing him a little bit more. You want to just talk about an immovable object, that’s Big Bill. He does all the dirty work. Playing D-line in the NFL in general is one of the most selfless positions in the league, because you’re just taking on 600 pounds every single play and you just have to deal with it at times. Those dudes are so valuable to us. But I am really happy for him that he’s kind of getting some praise, as he should. He’s a beast. We need him. He does so much for us, he really does.”

Billings had a forced fumble in the fourth quarter of the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Texans on Sunday night. The stop was a big reason the Bears had a chance in the final two minutes to drive for a game-winning touchdown, but they came up short.

The Bears (1-1) will visit the Indianapolis Colts (0-2) on Sunday.
