    White Sox select 5 position players, 3 pitchers on 2nd day of MLB Draft

    (670 The Score) The White Sox selected five position players and three pitchers on the second day of the MLB Draft on Monday.

    In the third round, Chicago selected 21-year-old Arizona State outfielder Nick McLain, who’s a switch-hitter. McClain hit .342 with 12 homers, 54 RBIs and 1.120 OPS in 48 games this past season.

    In the fourth round, the White Sox took 20-year-old Virginia outfielder Casey Saucke, who bats and throws right-handed. Saucke hit .344 with 14 homers, 65 RBIs and a .985 OPS in 62 last season, when he earned second-team all-ACC honors.

    In the fifth round, the White Sox drafted 21-year-old Coastal Carolina infielder Sam Antonacci, who bats lefty and throws right-handed. Antonacci hit .367 with six homers, 47 RBIs and a 1.027 OPS in 61 games this past season, when he earned first-team all-Sun Belt honors.

    In the sixth round, the White Sox selected 22-year-old Texas A&M catcher Jackson Appel, who hit .331 with 10 homers, 41 RBIs and a .956 OPS in 65 games last season. Appel earned first-team all-SEC honors.

    In the seventh round, Chicago took 21-year-old Pittsburgh right-hander Phil Fox, who had a 1.47 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 23 relief appearances this past season. He struck out 45 batters and walked just three hitters in 36 2/3 innings.

    In the eighth round, the White Sox drafted 22-year-old Tennessee right-hander Aaron Combs, who posted a 3.35 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 24 appearances, including two starts, last season. He struck out 66 batters in 45 2/3 innings.

    In the ninth round, the White Sox selected 22-year-old Iowa right-hander Jack Young, who had a 2.75 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 28 relief appearances this past season. He struck out 47 batters in 32 2/3 innings.

    In the 10th round, Chicago took 23-year-old Louisiana Tech outfielder Cole McConnell, who bats and throws lefty. He hit .378 with 18 homers, 71 RBIs and a 1.132 OPS in 60 games last season.
