Philadelphia police are searching for two vehicles in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a 24-year-old woman dead early Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 3:42 a.m. in the 4300 block of N. Front Street in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia .

Police say Tahtiana Diggs exited the vehicle she was traveling in with family members.

Police say she fell when she exited the vehicle. Soon after, she was hit by at least one vehicle in the roadway.

Diggs was taken to Temple University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

"It is possible given the circumstances I've described to you that the driver didn't know they struck a person," said Philadelphia Police Captain Mark Overwise. "It appears there is a small SUV, light blue or gray, followed by a pick-up that is gray."

Reporter Annie McCormick asked if it was safe to say police don't know which driver hit Diggs.

Overwise said no they don't. Additionally, Overwise stated there is the potential she was hit by both drivers. The images were captured on police real-time crime cameras but not released to the media.

Diggs suffered trauma to her head. Police say no vehicle parts were discovered at the scene.

Diggs' two other family members were inside the stopped vehicle and witnessed the hit-and-run .

    No arrests have been made.

The 6abc Data Journalism team found Philadelphia has had 19 fatal hit and runs, out of 65 total traffic fatalities, in 2024.

This stretch of roadway was the scene of another deadly tragedy this year.

Just a short distance away, at Front Street and Hunting Park Avenue, a stolen Kia with five teens inside struck and killed 55-year-old Wilberto Casillas while he rode his motorcycle.

That crash happened on May 29. The teens were apprehended.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department's Crash Investigation Division at 215-685-3180 or call/text the PPD's tipline at 215-686-TIPS (8477). Tipsters can remain anonymous.
