New Pennsylvania law aims to help local pharmacies
There's a new outlook for local pharmacies throughout Pennsylvania.Governor Josh Shapiro has signed legislation that aims to save those businesses from closing.Since January, more than 140 pharmacies across the state have shut down.An investigation showed the issue is the "pharmacy benefits manager," who plays the middleman for insurance companies and the pharmacies themselves.The legislation aims to provide more transparency for the job, while saving money in the process.
3 found shot in car at shopping center parking lot in Cheltenham Township, Pa.
Three women with shooting wounds were found in a car at a parking lot in Cheltenham Township in Montgomery County.Police were called to the Moore Shopping Center at Cheltenham Avenue and Old York Road just before 1 a.m. on Saturday.The three victims were rushed to Jefferson Einstein Hospital and are in stable condition.Investigators are still trying to figure out if they were shot at that parking lot or elsewhere.Cheltenham and Philadelphia police departments are both investigating the incident.RELATED: Check the 6abc Neighborhood Safety Tracker

A federal class action lawsuit was filed Friday on behalf of ticketed fans who were not allowed into the Copa América finals match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Sunday, after "thousands of unticketed fans" breached security, prompting them to shut the stadium gates.Listed as defendants in the lawsuit are Hard Rock Stadium, international soccer organizations South American Football Confederation and the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, and security firm Best Crowd Management.An estimated 65,300 tickets were sold for the match between Argentina and Colombia on Sunday.The match had to be delayed for...
Power outages linger several days after severe weather in Philadelphia region

Multi-state deli meat-linked listeria outbreak kills New Jersey resident
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning Americans about a listeria outbreak that has sickened more than two dozen people across 12 states, believe to be linked to deli meat.As of Friday, 28 people have fallen ill -- all of whom have been hospitalized -- and two people have died, one from Illinois and one from New Jersey, according to the federal health agency.New York is the state with the most cases at seven, followed by Maryland with six. West Chester Post Office heavily damaged by fire
The West Chester Post Office will remain closed for the foreseeable future following a fire.The fire broke out around 10 p.m. Thursday at the post office on the 1000 block of Airport Road in West Goshen Twp.Detectives are working to find the cause.Retail and delivery operations will be moved to the Southeastern Pa. S&DC Post Office in Wayne.Customers should be prepared to show a photo ID when claiming their mail.
Israeli flag on Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia replaced after being vandalized
The Israeli flag that hangs on the Ben Franklin Parkway in Center City Philadelphia was vandalized.But it was quickly replaced with a new one.Photos showed the flag spray-painted in red.It's not known what time this happened, but it was discovered on Friday morning.The flag flies in front of the Holocaust memorial.There was no word on who might have vandalized the flag.
Suspect arrested for robbing taxi drivers in New Jersey
Police in Trenton have arrested a man in connection with a series of armed robberies of taxi drivers.Investigators say on three occasions Noah Brantley requested a cab.Once it arrived at the destination, authorities say Brantley robbed the drivers of their wallets.In one of the robberies, police say Brantley took the driver's wallet during a ride and then fled on foot. The driver tried to chase after him, but police say Brantley pulled out a gun.No serious injuries were reported.Brantley was apprehended on Thursday and charged with several counts of first-degree armed robbery.

Amazon driver robbed at gunpoint in Overbrook
An Amazon driver was robbed at gunpoint on Friday morning in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia.It happened at 5:30 a.m. on the 7400 block of Drexel Road.The driver told police he was approached by three masked men with guns who stole all of the packages from his vehicle.The victim says he was working as a freelance delivery driver for Amazon.No arrests have been made.The driver was not hurt.
Woman killed in double shooting after gunfire erupts in Tacony
A woman is dead and a man is in the hospital after a shooting on Friday morning in the Tacony section of Philadelphia.The shooting happened around 11:20 a.m. in the 6700 block of Marsden Street.Police say the woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her right arm and back. She was rushed to the hospital but died from her injuries a short time later.Investigators do not yet know the woman's age.A 23-year-old man was shot in the right side of his body and right arm. He is hospitalized in stable condition.No arrests have been made.

A Catholic school teacher in Wilmington, Delaware has been charged with allegedly sending sexually explicit photos to a 14-year-old former student.Alanis Pinion, 24, an 8th-grade teacher at St. Mary Magdalen School, has been charged with sexual solicitation of a child under 18, endangering the welfare of a child and indecent exposure.Police say Pinion had frequent contact with students on Snapchat and sent the explicit photos to one of them."I think it's unfortunate," said Rachel Gaskell who is a mother from Wilmington.
