    Almost exactly a year after

first releasing plans for the Old City Hall redevelopment project, local firm TWG Development has revealed a new vision for the tower that will soon rise at 222 N. Alabama St.

Originally, the tower was proposed as a sleek glass curtain wall. Now, it will adopt a look closer to other traditional downtown properties by utilizing concrete as well. Director of the Department of Metropolitan Development Megan Vukusich said the changes to the building’s design have been made to ensure “there’s a seamless transition in the architecture from Old City Hall to a new, modern building.”

Initially planned for 32 stories, the skyscraper has been trimmed slightly to 29 floors. As such, the mix of uses has shifted slightly as well, removing several apartment units and adding several more hotel rooms.

TWG Development has submitted the new design details for the project to the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission for approval. The project is still expected to be complete by the end of 2027.
