Len Berman and Michael Riedel asked former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton to explain why the NYPD cannot quell the political unrest at Columbia and other colleges.

Bratton reminded listeners that most of the colleges involved in the anti-Israel protests are the private property of the institutions and the police are not allowed to do anything without the permission of the schools. The NYPD does have control of what happens on public property outside of schools. Currently negotiations are going on between protesters and Columbia officials with the hope of moving people out without using force or police involvement that'll end up on the six o'clock news. If the NYPD is called in, they take over complete control of the situation.
