Nassau County Approves Ban On Masks

The legislature in Nassau County has approved a measure that would outlaw people from wearing a mask.

Doing so would be a misdemeanor with a penalty of a $1,000 fine and the possibility of up to one year in jail. There are exemptions for healthy, safety, religious and cultural reasons. County Executive Bruce Blakeman is expected to sign the measure.

A number of cities, counties and states have moved in recent months to prevent people from wearing masks. They were often required during the pandemic, but recently they've been used by criminals to hide their identity.
