New York City police have launched a new effort going after illegal vendors and unlicensed pedicabs in Midtown.

"They're very expensive. They're overpriced, but it's a hustle," one New Yorker complained to WOR's Natalie Migliore.

"Operation Front Door" launched on Wednesday night with cops focused on Times Square and the area near Grand Central Terminal. They were seen removing merchandise and impounding pedicabs.

"They're dangerous. They'll run you over," another person said.

Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry said this activity is cutting into the city's economy and it's impacting the lives of everyday New Yorkers.

"Unfortunately, certain pedi-cab scams and illegal vendors have been hampering the quality life in the area," Daughtry said on social media.
