Reports: Mayor Adams Will Be Indicted

Mayor Eric Adams is expected to surrender to federal authorities next week after multiple reports say he's been indicted by a grand jury.

"It is now my belief that the federal government intends to charge me with crimes. If so, these charges would be entirely false, based on lies," Mayor Adams said in a video statement.

We don't know the specific charge yet, but could learn more later on Thursday when the indictment is expected to be unsealed. It likely centers on the federal investigation into fundraising and whether the Adams campaign for mayor conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal contributions.

The mayor says he won't resign from office, despite growing calls for him to do so. He says he'll push for an immediate trial so he can tell New Yorkers the truth.

"I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength and my spirit," Adams said

If Adams were to resign or be removed from office, he would be replaced by Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
