A brand new poll from Marist College shows an overwhelming majority of New Yorkers think Mayor Eric Adams needs to resign after being hit with a five count federal indictment.

It finds that 69 percent of city residents think he should step down, including 71 percent of Democrats. If he doesn't leave voluntarily, 63 percent say Governor Kathy Hochul should begin the process of removing him.

"It’s hard to imagine how Mayor Adams could be faring any worse in the court of public opinion," Director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion Lee Miringoff said."

His job approval rating has fallen to just 26 percent, with 65 percent telling the poll they believe the mayor did something illegal. Adams has pleaded not guilty to federal bribery and wire fraud charges. He has promised to remain in office, even as a number of his aides and advisers have resigned.
