A photo of Tomlin's face edited onto an image of Bin Laden, the founder and first general emir of al-Qaeda responsible for orchestrating the September 11 attacks on New York's World Trade Center in 2001, as part of an Instagram carousel with the caption, "Osama Bin Tomlin." Elliott, 27, who was only four years old when the 9/11 attacks took place, received a mixed reaction of comments for the post, which was still shared on his account as of Wednesday (October 16) morning, with several responses expecting him to be fined.
Elliott has started in all six games for the Steelers in 2024, recording 45 tackles, one interception, three passes defensed, one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery. Tomlin is considering starting veteran quarterback Russell Wilson , who was initially ruled out during the season opener, over Justin Fields , who has led the Steelers to a 4-2 record, in Week 7.
“Last week we were scheduled for Russ to work in totality,” Tomlin said via Mark Kaboly . “He did that. Over the course of the week, I got comfortable with his ability to display his health. Now, it’s about knocking the rust off. He did some of that last week, and he is in consideration this week. We’ll see where that leads us. Both guys at the quarterback position are scheduled to work tomorrow. We’ll just walk it day by day. All geared towards putting ourselves in the best position to win the football game."
