LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — Renovations including additional pickleball courts and an expanded dog park are coming to Police Memorial Park in the northwest Las Vegas valley.

A new memorial for police dogs is part of the plan.

When the work begins on Sept. 3, the park will be closed for eight months. It’s expected to reopen in May of 2025, according to a City of Las Vegas news release. The park is at 3250 Metro Academy Way, between Cheyenne Avenue and Gowan Road near the 215 Beltway.

Existing pickleball and basketball courts will be resurfaced, and new landscaping will replace some of the park’s grass. Three new shade structures, expanded picnic areas and two new playgrounds featuring new equipment are planned. Parking lots will also be improved.

The park will be fenced off during construction.

The park opened in 2001 and current features — barbecue grills, restrooms, tennis courts, a walking track and a skate park — will remain in place.
