First look inside new West Henderson Hospital

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — It will soon be the newest hospital in the Las Vegas valley, the West Henderson Hospital which is expected to open by the end of this year.

Two years in the making the $387 million-dollar medical facility broke ground in March 2022 on Raiders Way and St. Rose Parkway in Henderson. It will be the second Henderson-based hospital for Valley Health Systems.

“The community is growing so rapidly that we need beds in this community,” Chris Loftus, CEO of the new West Henderson Hospital explained. “The facility has been master planned already from day one to be able to expand to 450 beds.”

The new 150-bed hospital has brought new ideas including revamped ambulance parking, changing it from parallel to a slanted drive-thru, which even inspired area first responders to change their parking. Other new technology comes in the form of blue lights in the rooms that kill bacteria in each of the rooms.

There are also seven operating rooms, a 36-bay emergency department, incredible views of the Las Vegas Strip, and room to grow on either side of the hospital.

The seven-story tower is complete, but the five-story tower has three shelved floors that can be built out and there’s also space ready to be turned into additional Operating Rooms if needed. They have even planned a space in their parking lot to add an additional tower.

Right now, they need to hire nearly 400 staff before they open in December.

“We got our certificate of occupancy to be here working from the facility so you’ll see both business people and construction workers both putting the final touches on,” Loftus said.

This will be the seventh acute care hospital in the Valley Health System. They are currently hosting interviews on-site for all their open positions. You can find more information here.

I remember when the hospitals here were so good. Now that the government has gotten so involved in healthcare.. care took a back seat to an administrative state, and insurance companies padding the bills🤷 Got a sore toe? Here's an appointment for 19 different types of specialists and 39 tests😅 Oh.. they have to be done on different days🤷 Why? 🤑😅 What the medical industry did during Covid forever tarnished the brand of "do no harm"🤦 but I hope those good doctors and medical professionals keep faith and don't lose hope punching the clock for a bureaucratic nightmare. There are many good people in this industry ❤️🙏 It just turned into something doctor's and patients alike no longer admire 🤷😅
