LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – After most Nevada voters surveyed supported the recent ‘no taxes on tips’ proposal, 8 News Now spoke with several gig workers Thursday who shared what they’re hoping to see.

In the latest Emerson College/The Hill/8 News Now poll, 71% of Nevada voters said they are all for an elimination of taxes on tips, an idea first introduced by Former President Donald Trump and later adopted by Vice President Kamala Harris.

Local Uber and Lyft drivers, who have to pay taxes on the majority of their tips, told 8 News Now this change would make a world of difference.

“That would be wonderful,” Uber and Lyft driver Marshall Enzer said. “For all the people who do work under tips.”

“Hopefully, hopefully,” Uber and Lyft Driver Francis Taylor added. “Whatever those candidates, I don’t want to mention one or the other one, if they both have the idea, good, both of them.”

The results of those surveyed in Nevada were also on par with several other swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina, proving its popularity nationwide.

However, some economic experts, including UNLV Law Professor Francine Lipman, said while there are a lot of positives to the proposal, it could cost the government in the long run.

“The cost of this proposal, I’ve seen, is between 150 and 200 billion dollars,” she told 8 News Now. “Because they’re concerned about other people recharacterizing their income as tips, and then not paying taxes on it.”

Regardless, people in Southern Nevada said it would be a game-changer for those who are paying a lot to get by.

“It would help a lot of the gig workers in town,” Enzer concluded. “Here in Las Vegas and across the United States.”

It’s easy. Vote for Trump and if he wins, he will eliminate taxes on tips and taxes on Social Security. Good for Harris and your taxes are going to go up through the roof, 20 million more illegals, more crime, kids will graduate high school that can’t read or write, food lines and eventually an economy that’s going to go into depression. Oh, and don’t forget about the elimination of private health insurance. Big government socialism by the communist. With a vice president who is totally compromised by China.
