Man dead, woman hospitalized in shooting near Las Vegas Strip

UPDATE : The Clark County Coroner’s office identified the victim as 26-year-old Richard Bason. His cause of death is still pending.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is dead and a woman was hospitalized after they were shot inside a vehicle near the Las Vegas Strip, according to Metro police.

On Tuesday around 1:40 a.m., Metro police responded to a report of a shooting near a business in the 500 block of East Sahara Avenue near Las Vegas Boulevard. When officers arrived they found a man and a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to Sunrise Hospital where she was treated for her non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said the victims were sitting in a vehicle when a person approached the passenger side window and fired several rounds into the vehicle.
