Arts District pizza parlor owner demands action from city after failed copper wire theft

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The owner of Good Pie pizza parlor in the Arts District said it was hit by copper wire thieves over the holiday weekend. However, the failed theft left its air conditioning unit broken, spoiling its ingredients.

If you wanted to grab Good Pie for lunch on Tuesday, you were met by a sign saying it’s closed.

The restaurant was able to reopen, but not without having to close for half of the day. The owner of Good Pie, Vincent Rotolo, said that the attempted copper wire theft is more than just half a day of closed business, he wants it to be a wake-up call for the city.

“52 people came here for lunch today and were turned away. Those people travel from different places in the valley looking for a Good Pie, and now they’re deprived because someone wanted to steal copper,” Rotolo said.

Rotolo said the would-be thieves managed to make their way onto the roof and cut the air conditioner lines before giving up on the attempt to get copper. Their refrigerator was at 60 degrees, and their special dough room was ruined.

The damage was fixed, but Rotolo isn’t taking it lightly. He wants Good Pie to be the final business that has to deal with this, saying the city needs to act now.

“We’re losing thousands and thousands of dollars and we’re losing so much because there’s an industry that is permitted to thrive right under our noses, like Metro’s there, but they’re not on the roofs,” Rotolo said

As for the would-be thieves, Rotolo said, “We’re ready, so if you’re out there and you’re the guy who did this, please come back, because we’re going to catch you.”

Good Pie was able to secure ingredients and prep dough to reopen at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

It's a known area for copper theft... Now you got hit like many others and now your ready. lmao.. don't get me wrong it sucks, and yes why hasn't metro cracked down on this is unacceptable. Business owners should regardless make sure the access to any area inside or out, rented or owned is secure.

He blames the city, but they have no control over Metro. They are separate government agencies that was formed in 1974 by an act of the Legislature to merge the City of Las Vegas Police department and the Clark County Sheriff's department. Maybe he should educate himself before throwing blame around. He can solve his own problem by securing his AC unit for a few hundred dollars instead of blaming everyone else!
