LAS VEGAS (KLAS)– The health district is warning Clark County residents about the potential health risks associated with consuming raw milk.

Southern Nevada Health District issued a warning about the health risks of consuming raw milk after the increase in illegal sales of raw milk. Since 1987, the Food and Drug Administration has prohibited the interstate sale of raw milk due to the risks.

SNHD reports that raw milk can harbor harmful bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli, listeria, brucella, and campylobacter, which can cause severe health problems or even be fatal. Vulnerable groups include children under 5, adults over 65, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.

To mitigate these risks, SNHD advises residents to consume pasteurized milk because the pasteurization process effectively eliminates harmful germs by heating the milk to a high temperature.

Clark County encourages those who observe raw milk being sold to contact the Nevada Department of Agriculture at (775) 353-3607. Those who become sick after consuming raw milk can call (702) 759-1300 or submit a complaint report by visiting this form

For additional information regarding the dangers of consuming raw milk visit the U.S Food and Drug Administration .

Because raw milk is actually good for you that’s why they are illegal in America. Why don’t they ban all the hot Cheetos and all this poison chips that are being sold to kids??? That should be illegal!
