LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The City of Henderson will repair Somerset Park’s broken water main. Throughout the various information meetings with residents leading up to this point, representatives of Southern Nevada’s Legal Aid Center have been present.

8 News Now sat down with one of those attorneys to find out how they are helping residents. They created an email and phone hotline for the situation.

Michele Kiraly is a Consumer Rights attorney for Southern Nevada Legal Aid. She was at Tuesday’s city council meeting, where the city announced its plan to repair Somerset Parks’ water system. As of now, there haven’t been specific costs provided to residents.

“The way that that assessment will be done is through a special property tax assessment. But it’s really a question that needs to be better addressed by the city,” Kiraly said.

As the situation continues, she says legal aid is still ready to work with residents, whether homeowner or tenant.

“The process is not over. And legal aid will continue to remain steadfast in their commitment to providing resources and assistance,” Kiraly said.

Whether or not you seek the help of Legal Aid, they want you to know to be cautious when people ask for sensitive information.

“They should be aware of anyone that is seeking any kind of personal information and that they should continue to work with the city of Henderson with regard to their specific problem,” Kiraly said.

The HOA has until Sept.10 to present a solution to the city. If it’s not done by then, the city will step in.
