LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — One person was ejected from a car and pronounced dead following a two-vehicle crash east of the Las Vegas Strip on Friday, police said.

On Sept. 6, around 11 p.m. officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Department responded to a report of a crash involving a dark-colored SUV and a 2006 Infiniti G 35 on east Desert Inn Road and Channel Eight Drive.

According to police reports and video surveillance, the Infiniti was traveling eastbound in the middle lane when it collided with a dark-colored SUV, which was also traveling in the middle lane ahead of the Infiniti.

As the Infiniti neared the SUV, it attempted to avoid a crash by swerving but hit the SUV with its left rear quarter panel instead. This caused the Infiniti to lose control and crash into a roadside attenuator. The Infiniti then overturned and one of the two passengers was ejected onto the roadway, according to LVMPD.

Medical personnel came to the scene and despite all life-saving measures one of the passengers was pronounced dead, police said. The Infiniti’s driver and another passenger were transported to a nearby hospital. The driver did not show signs of impairment, according to LVMPD.

Police reported the dark-colored SUV failed to remain at the scene.

LVMPD asks anyone with information about this crash to contact the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section at 702-828-3595. Additionally, those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or via the organization’s website .
