LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – It’s a partnership that benefits the artists of Opportunity Village.
One where businesses are getting involved and making an impact.

After two decades of living in Las Vegas, Jimmy Lin found a connection upon taking a tour of the Opportunity Village campus.

“We found out that 365 days a year, they have programs in place for intellectually challenged adults,” he said.

He said the fine arts department touched his heart, after seeing dozens of artists create masterpieces. Some of those art pieces are now on display inside Jimmy’s Summerlin and Henderson business offices.

With a picture of the artist, and details on what inspired them to create the piece.

If someone chooses to purchase the art, 50% of the sale goes to Opportunity Village and a commission to the artists. Supervisor for the department, Daryll Borges said the official name of the program is Boyd Gaming Fine and Performing Arts Program.

The pieces sell for between $50 to $500,  depending on the time spent and size.

Borgus said having this program inspires confidence among the artists and their parents.

“When they think the person they take care of is coming to Opportunity Village and doing art, they didn’t realize it was real art.  I love seeing that reaction it’s just the greatest thing,” Borgus expressed.

These artists are also commissioned to do pieces, some 25 artists’ wooden centerpieces were recently displayed last week at The National Speakers Conference.

Some of the art is currently on display at Jamba Juice at Charleston Boulevard and the 215, Squeeze Inn in Henderson and other businesses.
