    Driver killed in Northern Nevada rollover crash

    LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — A driver was killed in a rollover crash in Northern Nevada on Wednesday, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

    On Wednesday, Sept. 11 at around 2 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a crash on State Route 224 (Mountain City Highway) at mile marker 24 in Elko County, approximately 22 miles north of Elko.

    According to police, investigation revealed that a gray pickup truck was traveling south on State Route 224 when the pickup veered off the right side of the roadway.

    The driver steered to the left and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times, police said.

    Police said the driver succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

    The identity of the driver is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

    Nevada Highways Patrol has investigated 23 fatal crashes resulting in 30 fatalities in 2024.
