Second gentleman Emhoff rallies Democrats in Henderson

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, second gentleman Douglas Emhoff, thanked firefighters who are battling ongoing wildfires and brought his support for Nevada Democrats running for federal and state offices during a visit to Henderson on Thursday.

In a field office for Democrats just larger than an average living room, about 100 people packed in to hear the second gentleman speak as part of his wife’s campaign. Emhoff was met with cheers.

As plug-in fans did their best to cool off the crowded room, the Emhoff recapped what he sees as the highlights of his wife’s campaign, the lowlights of Donald Trump’s campaign and mentioned Nevada a few times.

He told supporters they can put in the work to produce a victory.

“We can do the work, especially right here in Nevada, so we can win this state. If we can win this state, we’ve got a really good chance of winning this election, right?” Emhoff said.

Emhoff also encouraged his supporters to get others to register to vote.

Some of that work started immediately after the speech, with the room being converted into a phone bank. Some supporters stayed behind to work the phones.

The Republican National Committee’s Nevada communications director, Halee Dobbins, responded to Emhoff’s trip, saying in part, “No visit from Doug Emhoff can conceal the reality that the dangerously liberal Harris-Walz agenda will be one that Nevadans simply can’t afford.”
