    Las Vegas woman fatally hit after walking into travel lane

    LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas woman was killed in a crash on State Route 159 when she walked into a travel lane and a car was unable to stop in time, police said.

    On Sept. 10, around 7 p.m., Nevada State Police Highway Patrol responded to a crash near State Route 159 and Mile Marker 9.

    The investigation revealed that a gray 2006 Toyota Scion coupe was traveling northbound when a woman walking southbound entered the travel lane and was hit by the Toyota.

    The driver was unable to stop in time, and the crash resulted in the death of the woman, identified as 47-year-old Ann Kathleen Simmons, police said.

    According to the news release, the driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigating officers.
