LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Downtown Las Vegas is coming to the suburbs as two new restaurants open in Henderson continuing the city’s attraction to independent eateries.

Antonio Nuñez, owner and operator of The Parlour Coffee and Cooking , stood amid the plastic-covered chairs and framed Mack Miller vinyl with the future of his third expansion already in mind.

“Sponsors, partying, drinking, having a good time, food, music,” Nuñez said. “What else goes into a party that you don’t want, right?

Nuñez, and his collaborator Scott Cumming, have a wide breadth of experience with crafting the ideal atmosphere as a longtime consultant on other projects like Jaws on the Water , Downtown Grand, and Public Works on Water Street. However, the expansion on Horizon Ridge Parkway and Valle Verde Drive will mark the return of Nuñez to the site of his former restaurant, Kitchen Table.

By October four Downtown Las Vegas restaurants will be operating within a half mile radius of Green Valley Parkway and Horizon Ridge: The Parlour, Tacotarian, Makers & Finders Coffee, and Good Pie.

“I think there’s a synergy that’s going on where people recommend like they’re downtown, they all know each other,” Nuñez said. “There’s so many different aspects to Henderson now that you’d be almost ignorant not to be here.”

The movement for more “mom and pop” restaurants in Henderson follows a long period of chain restaurants that had previously found success in newly expanded portions of the city.

“You had 90% of all these chain-driven restaurants here since we were kids,” he said. “They’re starting to get there, and that’s why you’re starting to see a lot more small businesses come in.”

Good Pie, a pizza-by-the-slice shop, plans to open its second location on October 13 during an Italian-inspired festival.

Vinny Rotolo, owner of Good Pie, has also asked for the community to send in photos of local grandmothers for their “grandma wall” at their new location. Rotolo is asking for all submissions to be sent to Pizza@goodpie.com .
