UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner’s office identified the man who died as 36-year-old Brandyn Tesch.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Henderson police reported that several gunshots were heard overnight Saturday, leading to the discovery of a man dead at the scene.

At around 4 a.m. on Sept. 21, Henderson Police and the Fire Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of Wellness Place, near Gibson Road and Galleria Drive, according to Henderson Police.

Police said a 33-year-old man was approached by another man with a firearm in his hand demanding his cell phone and wallet. The 33-year-old man then pulled out a gun and shot the man with his firearm and hit him due to fearing for his life, according to Henderson police.

Police said despite lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 33-year-old man stayed at the location and is cooperating with detectives.

Henderson detectives are investigating this as a homicide. Authorities have stated that there is no threat to the community, and no additional details are available as of right now.

“We saw it on the ring app early in the morning and everybody was freaking out in the neighborhood,” Anthony Robinson said.

Robinson lives at The Well apartments in Henderson and said it was absolute chaos Saturday as Henderson Police arrived at his. complex.

“I heard two or three sirens at first and thought maybe they were going to the Henderson Hospital, but then I’m like there’s too many sirens going on and realized it was at my apartment complex. It was alarming to hear that at 4 o’clock in the morning,” Robinson added. “Obviously, the person protecting himself needed the weapon, but the person who was trying to commit a robbery should not have had one so it’s an extremely tough conversation and situation to have to have and be in.”

Those who live nearby said that it is typically a quiet area where they feel safe so for this to happen is disturbing.

“I’ve walked this area by myself multiple times, but at the same time the way this world is going, it makes me think twice and self-defense in that instance is definitely understandable,” nearby resident, Mariah shared with 8 News Now.

“It is unsettling when you think about it being that close. You hear a shooting nearby and it’s not going to make you feel good,” Harrison Hawes said.

Henderson police are asking anyone with information about this case to call the Henderson Police Department at (702) 267-4911. Additionally, those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or via the organization’s website .
