LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — North Las Vegas residents are invited to take advantage of a “shred day” scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The drive-through event will be at the North Las Vegas Police Department’s substation at 3755 W. Washburn Road.

The North Las Vegas City Council is sponsoring the event, which allows up to two file boxes (18 inches x 12 inches x 12 inches) per vehicle. Information for the shred day states that papers will be shredded and recycled, protecting against identity theft.

It’s especially important to shred documents that contain sensitive information like:

    • addresses
    • social security numbers
    • signatures
    • dates of birth
    • credit card numbers
    • bank account numbers
    • utility bills
    • logins and passwords/PIN numbers

Office paper and file folders can be recycled. There’s no need to remove staples, rubber bands, paper clips or binder clips.

Stay in your vehicle and do not bring cardboard, plastics, metals, 3-ring binders, CDs, DVDs, printer cartridges, hazardous materials or common trash.

For more information, contact the North Las Vegas Police Department Community Engagement Division at 702-633-1808.
