    Man faces charges after 2 women stabbed in north Henderson area

    LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 30-year-old man faces attempted murder charges after two women were stabbed Tuesday in Henderson.

    Henderson police said Wednesday that James Atkins was found in a desert area near the Las Vegas Wash. Atkins was also suffering from stab wounds.

    On Tuesday at about 5 p.m., Henderson police and Henderson Fire Department personnel responded to a report of two women who had been stabbed near the intersection of Scarlet Sparrow Street and Pacific Sparrow Avenue. The intersection is in the Cadence development on the north edge of Henderson.

    3 hospitalized in Henderson stabbing

    Law enforcement officers discovered one woman lying in a walkway near the 1100 block of Ruby Sparrow Street. She was taken to a nearby hospital, police said. Police said the other woman was being driven to the hospital by another individual and police intervened and took her to the hospital via ambulance.

    Both women are currently in stable condition, authorities reported.

    Once Atkins receives medical care, he will be booked into the Henderson Detention Center on two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, police said.
