LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A dog is dead and a person was hospitalized after a fire in the east Las Vegas valley.

On Wednesday around 4:50 p.m., the Clark County Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in the 5300 block of Morris Street near South Nellis Boulevard and Hacienda Avenue.

When fire crews arrived, they found “heavy fire” coming from the patio area of a single-story house. CCFD also said that there were “heavy smoke conditions” inside the home.

The fire was reportedly knocked down by 5:05 p.m.

CCFD said one person was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and minor burns. One dog was found dead.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no estimate is available at this time for the dollar loss.
