    Pedestrian in critical condition after central Las Vegas valley crash

    LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — A pedestrian is in critical condition after they were hit by a vehicle in the central Las Vegas valley Monday afternoon.

    According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision happened at around 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of West Sahara Avenue and South Rancho Drive.

    Police said the collision happened between a vehicle and a pedestrian, although information about what led up to the crash was not given.

    Medical personnel took the pedestrian to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver remained on the scene.

    Police said impairment was not suspected.

    This is an ongoing investigation. Police ask that the public avoid the area due to road closures.
