LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — A man is dead after a fight broke out at a southwest valley apartment when the victim’s girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend showed up during the early morning hours. Police are still searching for the suspect.

At around 6 a.m. on Oct. 9, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 3300 block of South Arville Street, near Spring Mountain Road, after reports of a battery inside on an apartment there.

Arriving officers found a woman who showed them to her apartment. In the apartment, officers found an unconscious man in his 20s. LVMPD Homicide Lieutenant Jason Johansson said it appeared the victim was battered inside the apartment.

Officers provided medical aid to the victim until medical personnel arrived and took the victim to a nearby hospital, where hospital staff pronounced him dead.

Johansson said at a news conference Wednesday morning that preliminary details were extremely limited, but that homicide had taken over the scene.

According to police, he victim was inside the apartment with his girlfriend when her ex-boyfriend arrived. Johansson said there was a “disagreement” that turned into a physical fight inside the apartment.

The suspect then left the apartment heading south on Arville before police arrived at the scene.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect because of “conflicting descriptions.”

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section by phone at 702-828-3521 or by email at homicide@lvmpd.com. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or on their website .
