    Get rid of old prescriptions on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

    LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — If you have any old or unused prescriptions, there’s an opportunity to safely dispose of them on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

    The event is crucial in preventing drug misuse and protecting the environment. On Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., drugs can be dropped off at several locations around the Las Vegas valley.

    • North Las Vegas Police Dept., 3755 W. Washburn Rd., North Las Vegas, NV 89031
    • Coronado High School, 1001 Coronado Center Dr., Henderson, NV 89052
    • Smiths Marketplace, 9710 W. Skye Canyon Park Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89166
    • Palo Verde High School, 333 S. Pavilion Center Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89144
    • Henderson Police Dept., 300 S. Green Valley Pkwy., Henderson, NV 89102
    • North Las Vegas Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 6900 N. Pecos Rd., North Las Vegas, NV 89086

    Acceptable items include :

    • Unneeded prescription drugs (in original containers with patient name marked out)
    • Pet medications

    Unacceptable items :

    • Needles (dispose of at Trac-B at 6114 W. Charleston)
    • Aerosols
    • Liquids

    Other options for disposal :

    • Dispose in the lobbies of Metro Area Commands.
    • Crush prescription drugs in a seal-tight plastic bag. Add kitty litter or wet coffee grounds, seal the bag, and dispose of it in the trash.
    • Request a safe disposal bag from PACT Coalition at (702) 7228 or CARE Coalition at (702) 463-1415.
