LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — The Clark County School District (CCSD) faces a lawsuit alleging a student was bullied for several years, leading up to a fight that caused a traumatic brain injury.

The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday by Amber Salazar, parent of the bullied student, in Clark County District Court on behalf of her son. H&P Law is representing the family.

According to the lawsuit, the bullying started at Mannion Middle School in Henderson during the 2021-2022 school year and has continued at Foothill High School in Henderson, where Salazar’s son is currently enrolled.

According to the lawsuit, Salazar reported the bullying several times to CCSD police, trying to get protective orders against the bullies. The lawsuit does not include information on if the protective orders were granted.

In Feb. 2022, Salazar’s son was assaulted in the Mannion Middle School bathroom, according to the lawsuit, which also alleges that the child has been harassed, threatened, and bullied both in person and online.

Attorneys said CCSD implemented a “safety plan” for the victim where he could “seek refuge in the school office” until he felt safe, but on multiple occasions, the lawsuit claims he was denied access.

In another incident detailed in the lawsuit, the victim was assaulted on Oct. 2023 after he got off a school bus. The next day, he became “catatonic,” prompting a hospital visit in which he was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury, the document said.

The suit alleges that CCSD officials knew the “aggressor students” had a history of bullying other students.

In fiscal year 2024, CCSD has paid $53 million to settle lawsuits and attorney fees. The district declined to comment on the lawsuit, saying it has a policy against commenting on pending litigation.

This is sad but how do parents let their child get bullied for years and not take them out of that school!

My son, who's now 25, graduated from Foothill and attended Manion before that. Those schools are a cesspool then, even worse now. More woke garbage destroying future generations.
