LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A man is accused of killing his father-in-law after an early morning stabbing in the central Las Vegas valley, according to police.

It happened on Thursday at 2:24 a.m. in the 2800 block of South Decatur Boulevard.

When Las Vegas Metro police arrived they found a man with apparent stab wounds inside of an apartment. The man was later identified as the suspect’s father-in-law and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Las Vegas Metro detectives later determined that the man who died was involved in a verbal argument with his son-in-law, who was identified as 31-year-old Aristides Matute. During the fight detectives said Matute found a knife and stabbed his father-in-law.

Matute was later arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center and faces an open murder charge.

Anyone with information can call Las Vegas Metro police at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
