LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – With just over two weeks until election day, Clark County officials shared their work to prepare and what voters can expect.

“Very important for voters,” Clark County Registrar of Voters Lorena Portillo said. “To know they have the option.”

Portillo spoke with 8 News Now about efforts to set up sites across Southern Nevada ahead of the Saturday morning start.

“We want this election process to be safe, secure, and accessible to voters,” Portillo said.

She spoke with 8 News Now about her team’s work to prepare voting sites for early voting and election day on November 5.

“We run tests of our equipment, our software, you name it,” she explained. “We make sure that we are prepared for anything that occurs.”

This comes as both presidential candidates continue to hit the campaign trail.

“I hear we are doing very well in just about every location,” Former President Trump said, speaking to reporters this week. “I think we are doing great in Arizona, in Nevada, we are doing very well.”

Trump is set to make another stop in Las Vegas Thursday, while Former President Obama will campaign for Vice President Harris Saturday in the valley.

“Put down your phone and do what?” Obama said during an Arizona rally this week. “Vote for Kamala Harris as the next President of The United States.”

No matter how any voter casts their ballot, Portillo wants the process to be safe and smooth for everyone.

“We have added more machines,” she concluded. “So they don’t have to wait in line as much hopefully.”

Early voting sites also act as drop-off locations for anyone with a mail-in ballot.

Clark County is also currently sending out sample ballots to voters.
