FRANKFORT — Though the race is over a month away, Michigan’s IRONMAN 70.3 race has officially sold out.

Over 2,100 racers will take to Frankfort on Sept. 15 to tackle the half IRONMAN, which features over 70 miles of running and biking along the renowned M-22 highway and swimming in Lake Michigan.

The Michigan IRONMAN course has been voted the most beautiful nationally for three years in a row, and they’re looking to take home the honor a fourth time. Director of sports and events for Traverse City Tourism, Mickey Graham, said organizers are ready to give contestants an unforgettable experience.

“This is their challenge, and whether they’re raising money or they just want to do it, like I said, for physical fitness or just something that they want [to] check off the bucket list. And when you see those people cross the finish line, and you see the emotion that they actually did it – that, to me, is what’s really special about the IRONMAN.”

Special entries may still be granted if you missed out, but right now organizers said they need volunteers most. Click here to lend a hand.
