INTERLOCHEN - Rising pop star Chappell Roan has been the talk of the summer. She is known for her single ‘Good Luck Babe’ and ‘Pink Pony Club’, but what you might not know is she has a northern Michigan connection.

Roan attended Interlochen Center for The Arts Summer Camp where she wrote the song ‘Die Young’.

Roan performed just a few days ago at Lollapalooza in Chicago. Interlochen Center of The Arts is proud to watch Roan and over $75,000 alum become successful.

Carolyn Purcell, Interlochen Center of The Arts Associate Director of Engagement, says, “I’m also an alum of Interlochen. I attended the academy, and I know that I am in awe of the community that I’m a part of. When I look around and I see the, what all of our alumni are doing, and I think that they walked the same halls that I did. They sat in the same classrooms. Some of them had the same teachers. I did live in the same dorms I did. It’s truly amazing to be part of this community. I think all of our alumni feel the same way when they come back, especially, and not only when you look ahead and see what alumni are doing, as they’ve matured in their careers. But also, when you come back as an adult and you see what the students are doing now.”

Interlochen has had successful alumni come back perform such as Nora Jones, they hope that bringing in alumni inspire students for what their future could be.
