Body found on Beaver Island shore identified as missing woman

On Aug. 9, an unidentified body was discovered in Lake Michigan on the Western Shore of Beaver Island.

Michigan State Police said dental records were used to positively identify the body as Kristen Terrian. She was last seen around 5:30 a.m., Aug. 2, on Michibay Beach near the Manistique Township Park. Her family has been notified by MSP detectives.

“This is not the outcome any of us wanted.” stated F/Lt Mike Shaw, MSP Public Information Officer. “We offer our condolences to Kristen’s family and our community.”

The investigation is still open, and MSP said the autopsy has not been fully completed. They are asking anyone with more information to contact the Manistique Outpost at 906-341-2102.
