GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — On Aug. 18 around 6:25 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post were sent to investigate a possible intoxicated driver leaving a winery on Peninsula Drive in Grand Traverse County.

Troopers located the suspect driver traveling 99 mph southbound on Peninsula Drive, they said.

A traffic stop was conducted, and further investigation determined the 27-year-old driver - a man from Midland - was operating his vehicle while intoxicated and was in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol, troopers said.

The driver was arrested and lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail for operating while intoxicated and possession of a firearm while intoxicated, pending arraignment.
