Why Arnold Ebiketie is set for breakout season with Falcons

After making the jump from two and a half sacks his rookie year to six sacks last year, The Morning Shift believes Year 3 for Atlanta Falcons edge-rusher Arnold Ebiketie could be his breakout season.

“He just seems like there’s a serious attitude with him this year, more of how he’s taking camp," Beau Morgan said. "And i’m not saying, 'oh he’s going to do this and that,' but he just felt a little bit more locked in.”

Make no doubt about it though, Ebiketie believes this is the year he’ll break out just as much as The Morning Shift does. He gave his own explanation as to why Friday after practice when he was talking to Mike and Beau.

“I feel like during the offseason my main goal was kinda pick it up where I left at," Ebiketie said. "I feel like last year the second part of the season is kind of where I kind of found myself per se, and my main goal was just to get my body ready and I understood what I had to do in order to take that next step this year.”

In an offseason where the Falcons didn’t make a lot investments into their pass rush, or into the defense period, and after losing their two sack leaders in free agency, Atlanta’s defense could really use a guy like Arnold Ebiketie to step up and become a real playmaker they can rely on to sack the quarterback and create turnovers week in and week out.
