Why Kirk Cousins' past success vs. Eagles could shine on Monday

Kirk Cousins' performance last Sunday against the Steelers was anything but spectacular, and he’ll be looking to have a big bounce-back performance on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Morning Shift explained why Cousins’ past success against the Eagles could pay off in a big way Monday night.

Cousins in 11 career games against the Eagles has a 6-5 record, has a passer rating of 101.3 with 3,341 yards, 26 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Not only does Cousins have solid success against the Eagles in his career, but he has recent success against them as well. When he faced Philadelphia last season he finished the game going 31 for 44, which is a 70.5 completion percentage, throwing for 364 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions, and finished the game with a 125.6 quarterback rating.

Despite Cousins looking rusty and uncomfortable in Week 1, Beau Morgan believes Cousins’ recent and career success against the Eagles could be a difference maker for the Falcons offense.

“The thing I would say is probably the most important for Zac Robinson, Raheem Morris, and this Falcons team is the fact that he’s played them each of the last two years,” Beau Morgan said

Beau also wondered if Robinson will lean on his quarterback to “figure out things that have worked and not worked in the past against this Eagles defense.”

With Cousins' successful past against the Eagles it seems like the Falcons offensive coordinator should pick the brain of Cousins maybe a little bit more than usual, so he can have a greater chance of putting together a successful game plan. He and Cousins both can have a bounce-back performance, and help the Falcons improve to 1-1 with a big win on a national stage.
