Why Jalen Hurts' mobility won't be that big of an issue for Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons continue the daunting beginning to their 2024-25 campaign by taking on a Philadelphia Eagles team that looked very dangerous offensively last Friday night in Brazil when they scored 34 points to beat the Green Bay Packers in their first game of the season.

However, even though the Falcons’ defense will have a lot of different things to worry about when it comes to the Eagles’ offense, one thing they may not have to worry about as much as they would’ve in years past is Jalen Hurts’ mobility, and earlier today former Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver and now Color Analyst on the Eagles Radio Network on Sports Radio 94 WIP Mike Quick explained why on The Morning Shift.

“Yes he does try and run some of the RPO stuff still, but not having nearly the success that he’s had in the past with it, and he doesn’t look quite as spry as he’s looked in the past.” Quick said.

Mike would also go on to say that he’s not sure if Hurts is still dealing with knee injury that bothered him all of last season, or if he’s just not as quick as he once was.

“Jalen doesn’t appear to be as swift, as fast, as quick as he’s looked in the past, so I don’t know if it’s the lingering injury, because he did have some things going on last season, and I don’t know if that’s still an issue or is he’s just not as quick as he once was.” Mike said.

Now, this doesn’t mean the Falcons need to play Jalen Hurts as if he’s going to be a statue in the pocket because that’s just not the case. Jalen can still hurt a team with his legs, but now it seems like more than ever Jalen is a pass first quarterback, and if he does try to take off and scramble it may be easier to bring him down now then it was in season past.
