It’s the long and seemingly never-ending rumor that the Steelers are connected to Brandon Aiyuk.

The San Francisco wide receiver requested to be traded by the 49ers after both sides have been unable to come to an agreement on a long-term contract.

93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi says according to sources, “The Steelers are working hard on a trade for Brandon Aiyuk. And a deal could get done soon.”

He added that the Steelers are willing to give Aiyuk a contract extension and the fifth-year receiver is willing to give the Steelers “a little bit of a discount.”

Poni says the trade compensation to the Niners is what is holding up the deal at this point.

The advantage the Steelers have is Aiyuk seemingly wants to be in Pittsburgh.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter says that while Aiyuk doesn’t have a no-trade clause, he can say he isn’t going to sign a new deal with a team and then it wouldn’t make sense for that team to give up all that compensation up for him.

There are three parties that need to be satisfied for the deal to happen. Aiyuk needs to be happy with where he is going and that he will have a contract extension he wants to sign, the team he is going to has to be willing to give up what San Francisco wants and the Niners needs to be content with what they’re getting.

Aiyuk has 3,931 career yards, 269 catches and 25 touchdowns over four years in the NFL.

Other teams that Aiyuk has been linked to include Cleveland and New England, but Steelers appear to be the frontrunner, if a deal does happen.
