LATROBE, PA (93.7 The Fan) – Russell Wilson got the most first team reps he’s taken all camp and not just handoffs, but was throwing the ball around Tuesday at St. Vincent College as the Steelers were in full pads.

Wilson went through 11-on-11 drills and where previously he would only do shotgun handoffs, he was throwing passing and at least once stayed in the pocket while rushers came, obviously none getting close.

Wilson went through his first ‘7 shots’ drills and threw a touchdown to George Pickens.

“I thought he did a good job,” said Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. “I thought they all did a good job. We didn’t warm up to the action.”

Later, Wilson threw a nice out to Pickens during 11-on-11 drills.

Justin Fields also took first-team reps as he has been all camp on Tuesday. He threw a couple of nice passes including a 20-yard cross to Scotty Miller.

“I think we are still writing that story,” Tomlin said. “I like the attention that he brings to the things we are trying to get done. He’s been focused on his lower body in the pocket, he’s done a nice of that. We got a lot of ongoing projects, things that we are focused on in terms of getting better and he’s really focused on that.”

7 Shots (from the 2-yard line)

    ·      Najee Harris plows forward over guard James Daniels for a TD

    ·      Justin Fields rush TD

    ·      Russell Wilson corner TD to George Pickens

    ·      Fields pass tipped at line

    ·      Kyle Allen intercepted by safety Nate Meadors

    ·      Russell Wilson hand off to Aaron Shampkin close rush TD left side

    ·      DL Isaiahh Loudermilk among those stopping Harris at goal line, Wilson was the QB

    Limited and who filled in

Cam Heyward, Isaac Seumalo, TJ Watt, Patrick Queen were players who were limited to little action on Tuesday. Spencer Anderson got the first work filling in for Seumalo and then rookie Mason McCormick got some time with the first team. Nick Herbig subbed for Watt, Loudermilk mostly for Heyward, Payton Wilson for Queen. Troy Fautanu had some first-team reps at right tackle with Broderick Jones on the left. However, the first group out still had Dan Moore at left tackle and Jones at right.

    Celeb sightings

Pirates manager Derek Shelton and GM Ben Cherington were at camp as was Joey Porter, Junior’s father. Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer, buddies with Tomlin was on the sidelines along with Butler native and Poison lead singer Bret Michaels. The rock star posed for many pictures including with Tomlin.
