    UPDATE: from Schefter:

On Monday night 93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi said that the Steelers and 49ers were “at the goal line” with a deal for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said he doesn’t expect Pittsburgh to be where Aiyuk lands.

    So, what happened?

Poni says the Steelers are unable to match what teams like Cleveland and New England are willing to give up.

But, Poni adds that he believes that the Steelers still believe that Aiyuk doesn’t want to sign a contract extension with the Browns or Patriots, but would be willing to do so in Pittsburgh.

“Money isn’t a problem,” for Pittsburgh said Poni. “They can’t find a compromise with San Francisco,” to get a deal done.

With Aiyuk, at this point, not willing to sign a deal with the Browns or Pats, Poni thinks the Steelers believed San Francisco would settle for what Pittsburgh was offering.

Poni says the Steelers are offering at least two of these four things to San Francisco for Aiyuk: guard Dan Moore Jr., tackle James Daniels, wide receiver Calvin Austin III and a second-round pick.

Not much is known at this point but there are a few possibilities:

49ers hoping Aiyuk will change his mind and sign with Cleveland and New England or maybe they can make a deal to keep in in San Francisco.

UPDATE: It's not over yet. Ian Rapoport with NFL Network says there is still hope for Steelers fans hoping they land Aiyuk.
