Mike Tomlin says they will continue to move forward with Justin Fields as the starting quarterback as Russell Wilson continues to deal with injury.

The Steelers Head Coach said during his weekly news conference on the South Side that Wilson will not be practicing to begin the week.

That’s very similar to what he said last week as the team got ready to play the Broncos in Denver.

Tomlin said that they won’t speculate on Wilson until is he available to them.

“I’m not talking hypotheticals,” said Tomlin when asked if Fields has done enough to be the starting quarterback.

“We’ve got one of those two guys available to us as I stand here today so, it is a waste of my time to speculate and hypotheticals and all of that,” said Tomlin. “Justin’s got a game to get ready for this week and so, I’m not doing him any justice by talking hypothetical, I want him focused.”

“Until Russell gets to a state of readiness where he’s a consideration, I won’t be speculating on any of that in any way,” added Tomlin.

Tomlin said that Wilson was in “pole position” in the preseason before Training Camp began and since his injury has not said that Wilson will be the starting quarterback when he returns, instead, continuing to say they will wait and see, pointing to the depth chart.

Wilson continues to be listed as QB1 on the latest depth chart, followed by Fields.
