PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Too small, from a FCS school, Desmond Reid has heard it all, but all he’s done at Pitt is produce and Friday named to the Sporting News Midseason All-America Team.

The 5’7” running back came with new offensive coordinator Kade Bell from Western Carolina and immediately made an impact. In his first game at Pitt he rushed for 145 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown and returned a punt 78 yards for another touchdown. You might be thinking it was against a MAC team.

In his second game, he rushed for 148 yards and caught six passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. Reid is the only player in Pitt history to have 100 yard rushing and 100 yards receiving in one game. He caught 11 passes for 155 yards and a TD at North Carolina and rushed for 130 yards and two scores against Cal.

Reid has 913 all-purpose yards with 494 rushing and eight touchdowns.

The junior is on the watch list for the Maxwell Award and also named the ‘most surprising player’ by the Associated Press.

The 20th ranked Panthers (6-0) host Syracuse (5-1) Thursday night at 7:30 on 93.7 The Fan.
