Brandon Aiyuk could debut at practice Wednesday [report]

The 49ers could have Brandon Aiyuk back on the practice field Wednesday afternoon. That's not definite, but NFL Network's Mike Garafolo updated the Aiyuk and Trent Williams situations Wednesday morning, and suggested Aiyuk could practice.

Per Garafolo, "At this point, they get into the practice schedule this week and they're going to practice this afternoon. Sort of the understanding was that at this point, he would practice. So we're going to have to see if he's on the field this afternoon with the San Francisco 49ers. But again, no closer to an extension or a trade there than we were the last couple of weeks."

As for Williams, the situation also hasn't changed.

"He seems like he is intent on proving his point that he deserves more guaranteed money and a raise on that contract. Expected to make around $20 million this season. Perhaps he will carry that [hold out] into the regular season."

In short, the update is there is no update. But Aiyuk may practice, which would be substantial. Could he play on his fifth-year option? The 49ers haven't gone that route in the past, but it's possible that could be where this is heading.
