Several brands of ice cream sold around the country, including in Colorado , have been recalled after it was determined they pose a risk for causing "fatal infections."

Maryland-based Totally Cool, Inc. issued a recall on June 24 of multiple brands of ice cream products distributed nationwide due to the potential risk of being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration . Some brands listed in the recall include Friendly's, Jeni's, Hershey's Ice Cream, Yelloh!, Cumberland Farms, ChipWich, LaSalle, Dolcezza Gelato and more. For the full list of recalled products, visit fda.gov .

Listeria monocytogenes is the bacteria that can cause listeria, leading to "serious and sometimes fatal infections" that can cause severe illness in high-risk groups like children, the elderly, those who are pregnant and persons with weakened immune systems, according to the FDA. Healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Anyone who has purchased the affected products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a refund. As of June 24, no illnesses have been reported in connection to the recall.

Note that all those recalls are voluntary. If they didn't want to recall the killer product, nobody could make them. They do a recall only when the threat of a massive class action lawsuit threatens their profits.

Don't these idiots test their products before they hit the market? Jeez!
