    Denver Broncos, Patrick Surtain II Agree To Record-Setting Deal

    The Denver Broncos and Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Surtain II have reportedly reached an agreement on a four-year, $96 million extension, which will make him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN 's Adam Schefter on Wednesday (September 4).

    "ESPN Sources: Denver Broncos and two-time Pro-Bowl CB Patrick Surtain ll reached agreement today on a four-year, $96 million extension that includes $77.5 million guaranteed, now making him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history. Tory Dandy of CAA negotiated the deal," Schefter wrote on his X account.

    Surtain, 24, the son of former NFL All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain Sr. , was selected by the Broncos at No. 9 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft and is the eighth player from his draft class to get an extension this offseason, joining Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence , Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle , Detroit Lions offensive tackle Penei Sewell , Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith , Minnesota Vikings offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw and Arizona Cardinals linebacker Zaven Collins .

    Surtain, a first-team All-Pro in 2022 and a Pro Bowler in each of the last two seasons, has made 49 starts in 50 career games, recording 187 tackles, seven interceptions and 36 passes defended in his first three seasons.
